“Nambu iron kettle”

The origin of “Nambu ironware” traces back to the beginning of the 17th century, when Nambu Domain (currently the area of Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture) invited craftsmen of tea kettle makers from Kyoto to make arms, kettles for tea ceremony, iron kettles and other daily items. The tradition and technologies are still kept by craftsmen in Morioka City today, and high quality iron kettles, dishes and other ironware are manufactured.
